Julie's passion is contagious and we are proud to call her one of our own. Now Let's FUEL THE MOVEMENT TOGETHER! Keep reading to learn about the Lynne Cohen Foundation and everything you need to know about the event...

How did you discover the Lynne Cohen Foundation and Kickin' Cancer?

I discovered the Lynne Cohen Foundation through Lululemon. I was a Lululemon ambassador at the time and they asked me to warm up the crowd at Kickin' Cancer in 2010. I had participated in the event in the past and I lost my mother 21 years ago due to ovarian cancer so I was very honored. Of course I said yes! I ended up hitting it off with the founder Amy Cohen Epstein. She lost her mother to ovarian cancer as well. After the first event, she asked to me become the official fitness ambassador for the Lynne Cohen Foundation and I've now been working with them for 6 years.

How has the Lynne Cohen foundation impacted your life?

Well I went through their genetic testing. I had all 28 genes tested and found out that I do not have the ovarian or breast cancer gene. Most of their focus is on cancer prevention. If you do have the gene, they outline what you can do and even if you don’t, they will put a plan in place. You never know what you have been exposed it.

In your opinion, what makes the Lynne Cohen foundation so special?

They're so passionate and they focus solely on woman's cancer. It's a great non-profit and they’ve been around for 15 years! They do different events all over from here (California) to New York… it's just amazing. Kickin' Cancer alone has raised more than $2 million dollars for the Lynne Cohen Foundation!

This is Kickin' Cancers 15th year! How have you seen it grow since you have been involved?

It has grown and changed so much! Now we close off the entire road of San Vicente, from Wilshire to Avendale. There's all kinds of booths and activities. Different companies like Burn 60 and Sweaty Betty will be there, kiddie runs, face painting and so much more. The event really brings the whole Brentwood community together, thousands of people. It's really cool.

What message do you want to send out to the Burn 60 family to participate in this event?

We all have woman in our lives. Moms, wives, sisters, fiancés, daughters, girlfriends. Participating in Kickin' cancer is a great way to honor them. We've all been touched by cancer and all of the proceeds raised by the Lynne Cohen Foundation and Kickin' Cancer go straight to research and prevention. I hope to see you all there!
