bite into a healthy lifestyle with burn 60 + MyFitnessPal

Because eating right is so important, The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has declared March, National Nutrition Month. Their goal is to encourage everyone to  “adopt eating and physical activity plans that are focused on consuming fewer calories, making informed food choices and getting daily exercise in order to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic disease and promote overall heath”.

While we know that a typical Burn 60 class can burn up to 600 calories, Burn 60 Studios would like to take this month to help you focus on eating healthy. Did you know that much of the effort you put into your workout can be negated by not getting the appropriate nutrients required to fuel your body and recover properly? We want to teach you which foods have the vitamins and minerals your body needs to thrive and how to avoid taking in more calories than you BURN.

One of the easiest ways to ensure you are getting enough (and not too much) of what you need is to keep a food and exercise journal using an app like MyFitnessPal. MyFitnessPal allows you to log every meal and workout while connecting you with others who are working towards the same healthy goals. The app keeps you accountable by tracking your calorie balance and giving you a detailed report of your macronutrient ratios (fats/carbs/proteins), calories consumed per meal and the amount of vital vitamins and minerals in everything you eat. All of this data is combined to provide a daily/weekly breakdown of your nutrient intake so that you can quickly note what nutrients your body is lacking.

Armed with this knowledge, as well as the useful nutrition information we will be sharing with you throughout the month of March, we hope that you will be inspired to #eatright and live a #moreNOURISHED life.

Happy logging!
